I have seen some cool reproduction "Sheriff's models" of the 1851 Navy colt for sale.
But I have been Looking through books and websites for information about whether colt actually made this model. I cannot find one and it seems unlikely since the later 1862 Police Model later filled that niche.

Anybody know for sure?

Only thing close I have seen old pictures of percussion revolvers cut down, if I recall Dallas Stoudenmire had an 1860 army cut down to snubby length. All of these I saw had the loading lever removed.

John Taffin would probably know, or at least where to find out, but I don't know how to find him and I know he's recuperating still. Maybe someone else will chime in. Chris

I have an Uberti Old Navy

I have an Uberti Old Navy Arms 1851 Sherrifs model that I've had for years. I know that recently Cabellas listed some BP repros. You might be able to get a line on the importer by checking out their online catalog. I know this is a day late and a dollar short but thats the way it worked out. Good luck on your search.

Hi Sixgunner,
That is what my research is indicating. Factory made the police 1862, baby dragoons and pocket navies at various times.  I have not yet  seen a cut down original with a loading lever.

I have a quirk about buying only reproductions of cap and ball guns actually made and used in the 1800's.  Oddly, I love "modernized" Ruger SA cartridge guns. Go figger.
