Three round I fired into my compost bin with my model 29. I stepped back about 50 feet and let fly. The ammo was 240 grain Magtech JSP. They did not  penetrate the other side of the block.bullet holes 002

I frequently test loads on

I frequently test loads on the alder trees that I am going to remove anyway. I have a particular one that I am looking at right now. I can tell that it is going to have to be bound up because it will split the minute I put a saw to it. I am wondering if I have enough 405 grain 45/70 ammo here to do the job the easy way.

More fun than a chain saw

I couldn't think of a more fun way to cut down a tree. Might get a little on the pricy side. At least for me anyway. I grew up in western Kentucky and my dad and I cut enough wood in the spring to heat through the following winter. It would have been a lot more fun to do it your way!!

I am kinda partial to the

I am kinda partial to the method. I should get some pics of the stump I "created" testing an AK. That was in a moment of "modernity" I prefer the traditional tools like a lever-action 45-70. I'm just an old fashioned kinda guy that way. (besides  that, the Mrs. put the kybosh on my "old garden hose+"the right stuff"=Det cord, demonstration)

Thanx

Thanx for posting this-I have exactly one (1) box of 240 SP Magtech ammo, and was wondering if it was capable of leaving big holes in things. Now I know...

Magtech

I also have some Magtech 240 grain JSP's and was wondering how they would compare with my handloads. Chris
