I was talking to Chris3755 earlier today about hunts in different areas of the country and "trading" so to speak. Not a fully guided affair, more of a "show up and we'll try like hell" deal. No guarantees just a great honest attempt for someone in the east that wants to hunt the west and vice versa. Each arrangement a little different. The agreement will be between the two parties and in no way involve the forum. No guiding fees etc...Is this a possibility or is there a legal aspect I haven't thought of? Thanks, Don

No autopsy, no foul

Sounds like a great idea, go ahead and involve the forum if you like. Love to get in on this myself, need any porters?

That would be great. I can't

That would be great. I can't imagine that someone in Idaho would want to come to Pa.to hunt. On the other hand...
There would be the problem of out of state licence's ect.

Good Guns, Good Friends, and Good Whiskey. I beleive Skeeter was on to something.

I grew up hearing about the hunting in the east and midwest. I would love to try it. Something to keep in mind is the tags not the cost so much but the availability etc...As for the cost, by habits..I mean hobbies, they are expensive. Can't take it with you. Don

Unlimited number of deer tags

Unlimited number of deer tags in Pa. Some areas have unlimited doe tags as well. And all the coyotes, groundhogs, and blackbirds you can shoot. Yes blackbirds. No closed season, no limit, no one hunting them. We have Billions of them.
Groundhogs out the Cazoo.
Unlimited tags on Bear also. Just pay your fee, and hunt.

Good Guns, Good Friends, and Good Whiskey. I beleive Skeeter was on to something.

Hunting the Midwest

Don: I grew up in the U.P. and as of now, I think the deer hunting is better than it used to be. There are problems though. One is land use, because so much of the best deer hunting is on private land and MI is strict on tresspassing. But there is an abundance of state and federal forest land, however, if you don't know where to look for the best hunting, it's pretty much a hit or miss deal. Most of my deer hunting was done on our families land and as such we had good years and bad years. There seems to be an overpopulation of female and young deer as opposed to large trophy bucks. That's not to say there aren't some very large deer, they are just hard to find. Your best bet to hunt somewhere like the U.P. or even northern lower MI is to find someone with land that's in a good deer area and whose willing to trade with you. I do not know anyone right now willing to access their land since I had to quit hunting several years ago, but I will keep an ear open just in case, no promises. As far as licenses go I think a Non-Resident deer is around $100-200 and can be purchased online at MI dot gov or something like that or at any sports store or even stores like K-Mart or Walmart if they are in MI. There are early seasons, muzzleloading seasons and even late seasons in Dec. and Jan. Once you find someone to hunt with the rest shouldn't be a problem. I am sorry I can't help you more but I sincerely wish you the best of luck and hope you find a good trade. CHRIS
