Elmer Keith knife # 1

This auction is for an Elmer Keith and Gil Hibben designed bowie knife. These knives were given in the 1960s as a premium for a subscription to Guns and Ammo magazine. Made in Japan and plainly marked on the left side of the blade near the hand guard, they were 9 3/4 inches overall length, had a 5-inch blade with a blood groove on each side of the blade, solid brass hand guard and hilt, aluminum spacers between leather washers on the handle. The knife came with a heavy scabbard, sculpted along the sewn and riveted edge and had a belt loop at the top rear side. The scabbard was designed to hold the knife securely with no snap of other device to secure it. This particular specimen is in as-new condition, never sharpened and shows no signs of use. The scabbard is also like new, but has some scuff marks on the belt loop due to the hilt of the knife rubbing it when the knife was in the scabbard. Thanks for looking.
